I rented Bad Company 2. Every time I tried to play online, the game spammed me with that "BUY OUR VIP PASS" nonsense. And it only came with 4 maps! Apparently you don't get to try the full game if you rent.
They probably thought that was a great way to tease people into shelling out $60, but I just returned it the next day.

Mortal Kombat's online pass is mentioned in this article. I might be a little more sympathetic toward the people behind that game if they hadn't locked content on the disc and charged money to unlock it.
Gamestop, on the other hand, gives out free online passes with used copies of MK. They're notorious for screwing people on trade-ins, but you have to ask yourself, in this situation who's really taking care of their customers, here?

Deadly Premonition is GOD
Squall is an asshole, but that's why he's so great. He's the most human Final Fantasy character. He's got realistic problems and it's fun to watch him deal with social situations he doesn't understand at all.
The story is ridiculous, sure, but that's pretty much par for the course with these games. I dug the hell out of it.
I'd be pretty hyped if it was a re-release of the REAL Goldeneye on n64...but I know it's not.
